3D x-ray is used in the planning of Wisdom Tooth surgery and Dental Implant surgery. In the past dentists used 2D OPGs which didnt show as much as the newer 3D systems. 3D gives the dentist far greater information and better understanding of the anatomy prior to surgical procedures.
3D x-ray can be focused on the specific area of interest to reduce the amount of radiation required making it a low-dose diagnostic tool.
